Want to try an experiment? Coin in Bowl Experiment 1) Get a large bowl, a coin, some water, and a partner to help you. 2) Place the coin in the bowl. 3) Slowly step away from the bowl until you just can't see the coin. 4) Have your partner pour the water into the bowl. 5) What happens? This is an example of refraction. The light rays are scattered and bent so you can see the coin in the water!
Reflection Experiment 1) Get a television with a remote, a white piece of paper, a black piece of paper, and a partner. 2) Have your partner hold up the white piece of paper at an angle to the television. 3) Point the remote at the white piece of paper and press the power button. 4) What happens? Try this again with the black piece of paper. This is an example of Reflection. White reflects all light and turns on the television. Black aborbs all light and doesn't do anything.
