What is a convex lens? A convex lens helps farsightedness or hypermetropia. Farsightedness happens when a person's eyeball is too short and the light rays go past the retina. Nearsightedness occurs when a person's eyeball is too long and the light rays don't hit the retina. A concave lens expands the light rays, letting them go far enough to hit the retina.
